Xi Chapter: Top in GPA, Chapter Size at USC

The Spring 2009 Fraternity, Sorority Report has been released from Greek Life and once again, Pi Kappa Alpha has been placed on top of all 19 Fraternities with Chapter Size (126) and a GPA of 3.22.

The 3rd annual Pike Presents philanthropy was held earlier this December. Pike raised money and purchased Christmas presents for around 400 children at a local underprivileged elementary school. The event was a huge success with help from many different sororities. It was very rewarding to see the excited looks on all the children's faces, some of whom will not be receiving any other gifts this holiday season. Thank you to all the parents and individuals who donated money for this event.

Xi Chapter boasts top recruitment numbers on an international level. The chapter achieved the 7th largest pledge class in the nation, and it was second in initiations for the fall 2008 semester. This success is indicative of the hard work and commitment of the rush officer as well as the entire chapter.

Pi Kappa Alpha is kicking off its first annual Philanthropy event the Pike Rodeo. We've rented out the 5 Points Pub and will be having a mechanical bull riding competition. After the competition the band Lefty ad the Washout will play late into the night.
There will be both a male and female team competition. Teams will consist of 5 members each. Each competition will have a series of rounds with eliminations after each round. The team to have the most members advance to the final round and a...

Xi Chapter Alumni had their annual golf weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC the weekend of October 10th-12th, 2008. What has become an annual event for some for many years is starting to grow with different generations of Pikes taking part.

Writing under the byline Pat Robertson, I am nearing the half-century mark in South Carolina journalism. I was already working full-time as a newspaper reporter for The State Newspaper when I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a journalism degree in 1961. But my newspaper career had begun almost two years earlier when I began writing free-lance features for The State at $25 per story. Pike hosts Playboy

Playboy came to Columbia to promote their new energy drink: "Playboy Energy," and Pike was chosen among all other organizations in the area to host them. Playboy was able to enjoy Pike's tailgating experience during the Kentucky football game, the Playboy Energy girls brought their promotional bus along with cases of their new energy drink which was given out for free. Thanks to Playboy and all of the alumni that were able to attend.

After being on campus for under a year, and competing in homecoming for the first time, the Xi Colony was declared homecoming champions! Xi Colony along with Delta Zeta sorority competed against many other fraternities and sororities and managed to come out on top. Pike and DZ were announced the winners in Williams-Brice Stadium at halftime during the Mississippi State football game among over 80,000 viewers. Thanks to Delta Zeta sorority and all the members that participated.

After being a colony for just under a year, Xi Colony has managed to obtain a 34 man fall pledge class in their first time participating in formal rush. Not only was this the largest pledge class of any fraternity this fall, but Pike is now among the largest of all fraternities on campus. The Xi colony will continue to rush quality men right up until the date of their charter which is tentatively scheduled for November 2007.

Pike held it first DreamGirl Formal on April 13th at the Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The brothers and their dates enjoyed dinner and live entertainment at the prestigious Dunes Club. The couples danced through the night with a picturesque view of the beach in the background
Carolina Cup

Pike attended Carolina Cup this year for the first time. The brothers dressed up in their finest clothing consisting of seersuckers and bow ties while they enjoyed a leisurely afternoon watching horse races and eating barbecue. This event had a large turnout, and hopefully it will be even better next year.
